Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Switzerland held the second Chinese Food Culture Festival in Bern, the Swiss Capital, attracting nearly 10,000 local citizens and overseas Chinese, according to the Economic Daily.
The event included a myriad of Chinese elements such as red lanterns and Chinese knots to make audiences feel the traditional Chinese culture. Many people were queuing for traditional Chinese food and snacks. Audiences were marveled at Chinese cooking techniques performed by chefs from Hangzhou city.
The festival also presented other traditional performances such as calligraphy, paper cutting, Chinese medicine, tea art and wine tasting to showcase Chinese culture from different perspectives. Zhouxuan, Chinese singer, singed several Chinese folk songs.
At the festival, there was also a photo exhibition featuring the achievements of 70 years of the founding of PRC.
Governor of the Canton of Obwalden, suggested that 2019 and 2020 are two important years. 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC, while 2020 will witness the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China. He said that exchanges between the two countries has been expanded. Chinese culture is favored by Swiss citizens.
