Sharjah Municipality (SM) has prepared 30 environmentally friendly warning signs made from recycled materials to be used during the implementation of road works.
The initiative is in line with the Sharjah Municipality’s keenness to provide safety requirements for its employees working in the field, and to preserve the environment through the optimal use of available resources.
The director-general of Sharjah Municipality, HE Thabet Al Tarifi, confirmed that the road signs are part of Stage 1 of the project, through which the municipality aims to provide more than 100 signs to be used during the completion of agricultural works and other works on the roads to warn drivers of the presence of workers carrying out their tasks.
The assistant director-general of the Institutional Support Sector, indicated that preserving the environment and the optimisation of available resources are among the goals that Sharjah Municipality is keen to achieve.
The director of the Transportation Department at Sharjah Municipality said that the signs warn drivers that there are operations on the road, such as the maintenance of green spaces, the state-run Sharjah24 news agency reported.
