The ASF YFU Brussels-Wallonia (Youth For Understanding) which organizes exchange programs through linguistic and cultural immersions will welcome around thirty international students for the next school year.

But the covid-19 crisis came about during the ASBL's recruitment campaign, the organization is still looking for around ten host families in the province of Liège.

The non-profit organization YFU is constantly looking for new host families. But this year, the covid-19 has been there. The recruitment campaign, which is usually in full swing at the start of March, has not had the same impact. YFU must also face this health crisis. Marine Thirion, marketing and promotion manager said: "It is true that we have to adapt to daily life with the different health measures that are put in place, depending on each authority also in the country. For example, there are borders that may still be closed, or there may be a quarantine which will have to be made on arrival for certain students from certain countries. So we really adapt to the everyday life. Whatever happens, if there are measures or decisions need to be made, we do have a crisis unit that makes decisions based on the news all year round. "

A voluntary welcome

All types of families are welcome: young or old, with or without children, the so-called "classic" or single-parent families. The primary condition is the motivation since the welcome is voluntary. Only school and private costs are taken by the natural family. "YFU is really there to supervise both students and families. We organize follow-up and supervision weekends. We can accommodate for a term and not necessarily a school year, by the time to take stock and to see how it goes. YFU is here to support families. " Marine Thirion said.
