In order to cope with the negative effects caused by this pandemic, the CPAS of Liège and the City of Liège have decided to join forces to set up a specific temporary “Covid” office specially dedicated to reception and treatment, requested by the citizens of Liège in difficulty. This new special Covid unit will be accessible to all citizens of Liège, and not only to those already known to the services of the CPAS, but also those who find it difficult to cope with current expenses following a loss of income or purchasing power due to Covid-19 crisis.

Introduce a demand

The allocation of this specific social assistance requires the submission of a request from the person in difficulty and the establishment, by the CPAS, of the existence of a state of need in connection with the Covid-19 crisis. Once the state of need has been established, this assistance could, for example, take the form of assistance for housing (rent, arrears of rent, etc.), energy (gas, electricity, fuel oil, water, meter refills. budget and related invoices ...), digital support, in health (drugs, medical invoices, psychological consultations, hospital costs ...), or financial assistance or related to other primary needs (transport, insurance, school fees ...), explains the City.

"This additional aid, made possible by a federal subsidy, is not only intended for beneficiaries of the Liège CPAS", emphasizes Jean-Paul Bonjean, President of the CPAS. “Part-time workers, student jobistes, the self-employed, could for example also benefit from it. The will of the City of Liège and its CPAS is to allow each citizen who has difficulty facing the consequences of this crisis to push open the doors of the service”.

The request for assistance must be submitted to the Covid office before December 31, 2020. This specific service receives exclusively by appointment and can be reached on the free number.
