On 10th April, the action on supporting Italian “Ordinary Hero” fighting against COVID-19 was jointly launched by Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation and several civil organizations in Shenzhen, and donates in total 104000 single-use medical mask, 1389 medical protective clothing and 6 air purifiers to Shenzhen’s friendship city Milan and Umbria of Italy.

Under the guidance and coordination by the Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office and supported by Shenzhen Charity Alliance, Shenzhen’s Civil Societies had once again came together to support the city’s Friendship Cities in the international community in fighting the pandemic. GU Ting, the Deputy Secretary General of Shenzhen people’s association for friendship with foreign countries and LIU Guoling, the vice president and Secretary General of Shenzhen Charity Alliance had attended the launch event. Roberto Donadoni, the former coach of AC Milan and Italian national football team, now coach of the Shenzhen Football Club, had also attended as a representative Shenzhen-based Italian.

Donadoni was also video connected with Italian donors to display the materials. " I chat with my friends and family in Italy every day to soothe each other's emotions and inform them of the right way to protect themselves. I was informed that the situation in Italy was improved, and that hopefully it would get better and the outbreak would end sooner," Donadoni said passionately. It is understood that after the outbreak in Italy, Donadoni donated 16,000 masks to hospitals in his hometown of Bergamo. With the help of the Shenzhen Football Club, he also sent 5,000 pairs of protective glasses, 40,000 pairs of gloves and 300 protective clothing to his hometown.
