The municipality of The Hague will start a campaign from Tuesday to convince residents of The Hague to adhere to the corona measures. Under the name ‘The Hague against corona’, well-known and unknown residents of The Hague show how corona rules must be observed. Together with social and local figureheads, such as mayor Jan van Zanen, youth worker Umit Colgecen and social entrepreneur Petra Brekelmans, a good example is set.
Capillaries
‘Only with a joint effort can we get corona under control. It is extremely important that everyone adheres to the rules. That is why we are now going into the capillaries of the city, so that it is clear to everyone how best to comply with the rules, ‘said Mayor Jan van Zanen.
Figureheads
According to the municipality, the first figureheads of ‘The Hague against Corona’ will be seen in advertising columns, on lampposts and on screens in the city in the coming weeks. The municipality also distributes posters, videos and stories in the network in the neighborhoods. About 250 contacts share the various campaign communications with their supporters. Anyone may use the images and the emblem: they are all available on the website denhaagtegencorona.nl, which will go live during the day. The website itself, and most of its communications, have been translated into Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, English, Polish, Romanian, Spanish and Turkish.
Current and relevant
The campaign is constantly being adapted to what the situation requires. Van Zanen: ‘Does it appear that people find it difficult to follow the rules in line for a takeaway restaurant? Then a suitable image is added. Does the GGD notice that the number of infections among young people is increasing? Then we provide extra reach among young people. In this way the campaign remains constantly up to date and relevant. (ANP)
