A Boeing 747-400 cargo aircraft, operated by AirBridgeCargo, departed from Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport in Gansu and arrived at Liege, marking a successful launch of a direct air fright route between Lanzhou and Liege, according to Chinanews.com.

The arrived flight was loaded with Gansu specialties weighing around 80 tons. As Gansu open its doors wider to the world in recent days, it has seen a growing demand for air services. Gansu took the Belt and Road initiative as an opportunity to build a Silk Road in the air and to promote the construction of Lanzhou New Area Bonded Area.

The launching of the new freight route has offered a new channel for Gansu to connect with the European continent, which will also promote cooperation and exchange between Gansu and European cities, as well as the logistic efficiency.

Enterprises will take full use of the route to play a bigger role in global market. The launching will also attract more enterprises to settle in Lanzhou New Area Bonded Area, helping to lay a solid foundation for the construction of Silk Road in the air.
